Who We Are
North East Sustainable Solutions works at the intersection of environmental restoration, bamboo development and inclusive rural livelihoods.
North East Sustainable Solutions
North East Sustainable Solutions (NESS) is a sustainability and development organisation working across bamboo propagation and plantation, sustainable forestry, rural livelihood generation, awareness and capacity building, research and institutional collaboration.
Our work is grounded in the belief that ecological restoration and community prosperity are not separate goals — they reinforce one another. By combining scientific practice with local knowledge and enterprise thinking, NESS builds programmes that are practical, scalable and rooted in the communities where they operate.
Vision
Build sustainable landscapes and resilient communities through nature-based solutions, knowledge and enterprise.
Mission
To develop practical, scalable and inclusive solutions across bamboo development, plantation, sustainable forestry, rural livelihoods, capacity building and institutional collaboration.
Science + Community + Enterprise + Collaboration
Science
Evidence-based plantation, propagation and forest-management practices.
Community
Programmes designed with and for the communities they serve.
Enterprise
Market-oriented livelihoods that make sustainability economically durable.
Collaboration
Institutional partnerships that broaden reach and deepen expertise.
Geographic Focus
NESS focuses its work in Northeast India, and other project locations as applicable. Specific site and district-level details are added as individual projects are confirmed — we do not make broader geographic claims than our current, verified programme footprint supports.
NESS is headquartered in Kokrajhar, in the Bodoland Territorial Council area of Assam. The border motif above is inspired by the Aronai — the traditional handwoven scarf of Bodoland, presented at ceremonies and convocations as a symbol of honour.
